Volleyball Drills for all levels of play

Drills for beginning players

Straight arm passing ~ Two players face eachother passing the ball back and forth. They are NOT allowed to let go of their hands or bend their elbows. Straight arms back and forth for 5 minutes. They should control the pass and move their feet so they are passing in front of them.

Serving ~ Get a ball and a partner. Spread team across the net at the 10 foot line. Serve back and forth. Players are concentrating on their form. Make sure they have a good toss, they are transferring their weight correctly, and they are reaching for the ball. Continue the drill at 1/2 court, then to the end line.

Hitting ~ Have your players practice their approach with a tennis ball. Have them line up at the 10 foot line, do an approach and throw the ball as if they were hitting. Kids really have fun with this, at the same time it teaches them to snap their wrist and works on their approach.
