Volleyball Ace Palm and Windows OS Compatibility Volleyball Ace runs on most PalmOS-compatible PDA and PalmOS-based phones, including Tungsten, Zire and Treo "P" devices (600P, 700P, 750P). It also runs on older Palm IIIx, V, VII, and m series pdas (PalmOS 3.1 or newer). We do have compatibility issues with Palm Treo "W" phones (700W, 800W), see "Square Windows Mobile Displays" discussion below. Also note that Volleyball Ace is not yet compatible with the Palm Pre phone, although we plan to evaluate them as soon as we can get one. (They are based on a new, different Palm OS). Volleyball Ace also runs on most Windows Mobile 5 and 6 PDAs and SmartPhones with touch screens. It is also compatible with Pocket PC 2003 and SmartPhone devices. Note that devices identified as "Windows Mobile 6 Professional" (touch screen phones) and "Windows Mobile 6 Classic" (pdas) are compatible. Devices identified as "Windows Mobile 6 Standard" are not compatible (phones without touch screens). Please see the following section regarding square Windows Mobile displays. At this time Volleyball Ace does not run on the iPhone or other devices with operating systems other than Palm OS and or Windows Mobile/Pocket PC OS. Square Windows Mobile Displays (Palm Treo "W" series) Volleyball Ace is compatible with most Windows Mobile display types, including the standard 240 x 320 display and the VGA 480 x 640 display, However, it is not fully compatible with square displays. This includes devices such as the Palm Treo 700w and 800w. (Palm Windows Mobile-based Treo phones are denoted by a 'W', such as '700W'). This incompatibility is the result of the screens having a square display, whereas most other Pocket PC devices have a 240 x 320 pixel display. This problem exists even on 320 x 320 devices. The Windows Mobile operating system expands the Volleyball Ace screens in both dimensions to make the 240 pixel width take up the full 320 pixels, with the unfortunate result of expanding the 320 pixel height beyond the lower edget of the screen. Although Volleyball Ace runs on the device, the lower
1/3 of the screen image is not visible and you must scroll down to access the lower part of the screen, including the 'Done' and 'Cancel' buttons. We are continuing to look into
this problem, but do not have any resolution to it as of March, 2009.
